This 300 year old settlement offers a diverse vernacular from the Vieux Carre and the Garden District; City Park to the Cemeteries. The architecture has evolved with the influx of different cultures and political rule. The Art of the Architecture is interpreted from Creole, American, French & Spanish Colonial inhabitants in the form and scale of cottages, shotguns, double gallery, bungalows, townhouses and the mansion.
Much of its decoration and detail has survived reflecting the styles of Victorian, Greek revival, Renaissance, Italianate, Queen Anne and Gothic architecture. Later endeavors embraced Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Mid Century Modern, Streamline Moderne and Postmodern.
These images are a sampling of the street and the structures.
